Camco providing local energy planning

Camco has been contracted to provide local planning advice on renewable and sustainable energy. This is not the first win of its kind, and builds on past work in the sector.
This joint project for Norwich, Broadland and South Norfolk Councils extends from similar pieces of work that Camco has recently undertaken for Winchester, Bath and Bolsover Councils. The work involves providing an evidence base and recommendations for the Councils' renewable energy and carbon planning policies, as well as evaluating key sites regarding their potential for low or zero carbon development. This level of close consultancy and tailored renewable energy solutions draws upon Camco’s key expertises. The key driver for this activity is the Government's Planning Policy Statement 1 (PPS 1) which requires local planning authorities to underpin their policies for low carbon development with a clear evidence base, illustrating that low carbon development is possible in the locality. Camco is set to receive further projects of this nature, as providing this evidence base requires the benefits of Camco’s core work: an assessment of the local renewable energy resource and an evaluation of the potential of key development sites to deliver low and zero carbon standards. This contract signals further policy driven work; notably, PPS 1 requires all planning authorities across England to provide this renewable energy and low carbon evidence base, thus opening future opportunities for Camco to build upon this position and bid for similar work in the future.
