Our experience spans more than 20 countries and multiple industries and technologies.
Our project development and advisory teams collaborate globally so that we can give you expert advice and technical solutions to meet your business requirements. These are some of the technologies we have become very familiar with developing projects in:
Coal mine methaneCamco has been at the forefront of efforts to reduce methane emissions from coal mines by capturing and utilising the gas to generate electricity. We helped develop the UN consolidated methodology ACM008 for coal bed and coal mine methane and have developed a number of projects utilising methane from landfill projects.
Industrial energy efficiencyIndustrial processes that consume large amounts of energy often create significant amounts of waste gas or waste heat that can be captured and recycled. Even relatively efficient processes often vent steam or heat that can be used to produce electricity or to supply local heating systems.
Camco’s involvement in this area:
- Leading expertise in the development of several industrial energy efficiency technologies
- Created ground-breaking processes of steel plants in Russia
- Pioneered the capture and use of waste heat from cement clinkers and developed CDM methodology AM0024 in China
- Secured registration of a number of complex industrial waste gas utilisation projects in China
Wind and hydro-powerWind and hydro-power has been at the heart of renewable energy policy and planning for several decades. Camco has developed and registered both wind and hydro projects in China and is developing similar projects in Africa, Latin America and other regions of the world.
Biomass & biofuelsCamco has been advising on and developing biomass projects for over 20 years with this topical and complex sector growing rapidly. Some of our achievements in this area include:
- Bio-diesel – the world’s first validated bio-diesel project, Astra Bio-diesel
- Biomass waste – Central Europe’s first registered Joint Implementation project using biomass waste in a Bulgarian pulp mill, replacing coal and eliminating methane emissions from waste
- Biomass fuel – Pioneered the development of several biomass fuel switch projects at pulp and paper mills in Russia. The utilisation of waste wood in specially converted boilers has helped raise awareness of the opportunities available through carbon financing
ForestryFor over a decade, we have worked with NGO’s, academic institutions and international organisations’ to develop community-based forest management projects using carbon finance. We helped develop the Plan Vivo Standard, one of the highest standards in the market for voluntary forestry projects that provides small-scale farmers in rural communities with an upfront carbon payment to establish plantations and sustainable land use.
